I’ve been slacking on telling you guys how The Great Challenge with Dean is going.

Long story short: still crushing it. The last two weeks I got the stories in right at the deadline. But I got them in. 24 weeks in a row, now.

That brings it to 123,362 words total for this challenge, and 161,249 words for the year over the span of 83.43 hours (1,932.67 words/hr on average).

So things continue to go well. Two more stories and I get some bonus $ toward more workshops. Sweet.

I’m actually pondering whether or not to start The Great Novel Challenge as well, to push myself harder and get my writing up to an even higher level. The point of that challenge is to write a 40k+ novel every two months for a year, and for max rewards get Dean the paperback within a month of completion.

I could totally do that at the same time as this short story challenge. It’s only another 20k words/month – that’s 10-12 hours more typing time per month for me, at the pace I tend to write.

I was planning to shift to that challenge after finishing this one. But I’m at the point where I simply can’t bring myself to not write the week’s story. So maybe it’s time to start now, a bit ahead of schedule.

But that would be crazy, right?
