The Great Challenge – Week 13

I got my story for the week finished earlier than normal. Fired it off to Dean about 10 o’clock this morning.

Shocking, considering I usually get it to him sometime between 11pm and midnight.

So it’s another week of success in The Great Challenge. I linked to the challenge there, in case any of you who have been following my exploits might be interested in trying it yourself. I think he still has slots open, and you can join in any time. It’s been wicked fun so far, and it’s really helped get my focus back to writing after a couple years of pretty poor production.

Here’s the tally of challenge stories so far.

  1. Red Orchid – Romance – 3,800 words
  2. Debts And Obligations – Fantasy – 14,200 words
  3. Naughty And Nice – Modern Fantasy – 4,800 words
  4. Popper’s – Mystery – 4,100 words
  5. The Case Of The Missing Rocker – SciFi/Mystery – 7,200 words
  6. Fences And Neighbors – Post-Apocalyptic – 4,800 words
  7. Give A Dog A Bone – Doggy Mystery – 3,200 words
  8. No Title Yet – Romance – 5,300 words
  9. Lost On Cordant Station – Science Fiction – 8,560 words
  10. Kicking The Anthill – Urban Fantasy/Adventure – 3,863 words
  11. VIP Treatment – Modern Fantasy – 6,012 words
  12. A Man Of Faith – Religious/Supernatural Thriller Maybe? – 9,013 words
  13. Abe’s Liquors – Romantic Suspense – 2,951 words

That brings it to 77,910 words total for this challenge, and 115,797 words for the year over the span of 61.70 hours (1876.77 words/hr on average). Note that this total is down from last week’s tally. That’s because I realized I’d miscounted. I had one story that I began in 2018 and finished up this year, and I counted all the words in the story instead of just those written this year in my tally.

Oops.

Anyway, that’s the update for this week. I also did three episodes of the podcast: one to announce the latest The Infinite Bard story and two with more chapters from The Pericles Conspiracy, to make up for my missed time. Of course, the podcast is also on video on YouTube and Bitchute, if you prefer them.

Talk to you next time.
