Chugging Along

I guess I should update everyone again on how things are going.

First, NaNoWriMo:

Yeah….not so hot.  I am sitting at 28,480 words as of this moment and have gotten about 1,000 words down today.  I fully expect to go over 2,000 today, but I need to get about 2,700 every day between now and the end of the month to reach the 50,000 word goal.  Is it doable?  Sure.  Likely?  Maybe not so much.  We’ll see.  Even if I don’t make it, I’ve made good headway on Glimmer Vale.  I’m liking the story.  But then I’m hardly a detached observer so maybe someone else will have a different opinion.  🙂

Next, submissions:

I heard back from Writers of the Future about my 4th quarter submission, So You Want To Be A Dragon Slayer, a couple weeks ago.  Wow they’ve really sped up their process.  Anyway, no dice again.  No win, not even an honorable mention.  *sigh*  But I really like Dragon a lot.  A couple others have told me they like it too (one said it was her favorite of all my works she’s read).  So naturally I wanted to do more with it.  Unlike Delphinus, which I just uploaded as en ebook immediately, I’ve decided to wait a bit on Dragon.  I submitted it to Analog last week.  We’ll see what they think about it.  Sure would be cool if they decide to print it!

But just in case I got to working on a cover for it.  Obviously if it gets published it’ll be a while before I can put it out as an ebook, but it never hurts to work on a cover.  And truth be told, I made the cover, then at the last minute decided to submit it vice immediately epubing it.  So here’s what I have, after getting some feedback from a few people.

I think it rocks.  Comments?

Let’s see, what else…

Nada mas, I guess.  Ok, back to writing Glimmer Vale.  Have fun, all!
